Kevin Home for the Weekend

It was good to have Kevin home this weekend. We didn't do much. He went to the ACA Homecoming game, read, hung out with some friends, went to church and read some more. It was pretty quiet and low key. Why did I have such a hard time seeing him pack his stuff and go back to college? I miss him...I miss both my kids...it's hard to see them go...

Remembering Halloween

I remember when the kids were small and every year was a challenge to come up with a cool halloween costume. I never liked the scarry looking costumes. They were usually pretty cute if I say so myself! Some of them were homemade, of course, and done at the last minute

Craigslist

I love Craigslist! It's my new addiction! I've bought stuff and sold a lot of stuff on Craigslist. I tend to go on the site every time I plop down on the couch and put the laptop on my lap! It's like going garage selling without leaving your home, or having a garage sale without getting up early and hauling all this stuff out on the driveway. It's interesting what people sell and how much they want for it. Sometimes it's way over priced, but there are really good deals out there. I've got my eye on a piano for $250, and it looks good! I need to call and take a look at it. Sometimes it's inconvenient to call people and arrange a time to look at the item and then it's kind of akward when you don't really like it and you tell them you will get back to them, which you really don't! So far, that hasn't happened too often. Here's some of the stuff I've sold on Craigslist:

Aurora's Birthday

My cousin, Sandy and her husband foster two children, Jess and Aurora. They live in Phoenix and came to visit this weekend and it just so happen to be Aurora's 9th birthday. She is quite the character. Just give her a captured audience and she can talk your ear off. We had a great time!

Camping at Carlsbad

Our first "emptynester" outing was camping at Carlsbad. This campsite is south of Oceanside and north of San Diego. It's a very popular sight, especially in the summer. You have to book in months ahead and usually you never get it. We decided to go in the off season and during the week. We took off Sunday after church and stayed until Thursday. The weather was perfect, the view was perfect and it was just a perfect relaxing time. All we did was, rest, relax and read! We took Roxy for the first time. She did alot of relaxing too!

First day of emptynesting

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

This is a little out of order because I'm still learning how to do this blog stuff!

So it's the day after Labor Day, when summer is officially over and the school year begins. It's the day I usually take pictures of the kid's first day of school, but not this year! They are both in college! (I did take pictures of Kevin's first day at Vanguard) My new life officially begins as an emptynester. I'm not quite sure what that entails, so I've started blogging! I can't imagine what would be interested to write about, but that's where I have to be creative!

This goes way back...1969

When I went back to Minnesota a few weeks ago, I took home a bunch of old pictures, like ones when I was little (so that was a long time ago!). I've been scanning them to my computer and some day I'll do something with them! (Ya right!) I came across this one that I thought was pretty funny! Sandy, don't kill me! This is me, my brother Brian and my cousin Sandy. I'm sure this was after a Saturday night bath! Dawn
